Our Passion For What We Do Transfers Into Our Members Successes!

Based in Dunfermline, Fife, West Fife Fencing Club is one of the most successful clubs in Great Britain.

Started in 2000 by coaches Ken and Loraine Rose, the club now boasts 16 British Champions and 166 Scottish Champions.

We have a broad range of abilities with our membership, from absolute beginners to international competitors.

When we meet

  • Tuesday       – 6:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Wednesday – 6:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Thursday     – 6:00pm to 9:00pm

What it costs

  • Your first night is FREE!!!
  • Club fees are £30 per month with sibling discounts available.  Just £2.50 per session.
  • All equipment provided at no additional cost.

How old do I need to be?

We welcome fencers from the age of 6 right up to 106.

Do I need to have my own equipment?

No – all  equipment is provided by the club for those who need it.

Do I need to bring anything else with me?

We recommend you bring a water bottle and wear long trousers or tracksuit bottoms, a t-shirt and trainers. Everything else we can provide you on the night.

We Are Fencers, We Are Coaches, We Are WFFC

West Fife Fencing Club has coaching for both new and aspiring fencers, from beginner level up to international standard.

All our coaches are qualified with British Fencing, and DBS (CRB) checked

Our Coaches

  • Ken Rose

    Coach

    Ken has trained with coaching schools in England, Scotland, and Hungary and in 2006 was selected to take part in an International European Fencing Confederation coach’s camp. He is part of the coaching staff for Scottish Fencing at their National Academy, annual summer camp and for cadet and junior Scotland Squads.

    He is also involved in developing and delivering the current Scottish Fencing coach education system.

  • Lorraine Rose

    Coach

    Lorraine is one of our founding members and a coach in all 3 weapons

    During her time at WestFife she has been Team Manager, Coach and Welfare Officer within British Fencing, England Fencing and West Fife Fencing Club at regional, national and international levels.

  • Malcolm Holford

    Coach & Armourer

    I started fencing back in the early 80’s. I have coach fencers many fencers over the years, from beginners to intermediate fencers. While living in Cyprus, I was a lead coach at the Nicosia Fencing club. Helping to organise a number of coaurse for fencers, including coaching and armoury courses.

    As an armourer I have run the weapon control for numerous events to FIE standards. I am also a level 2 Referee.

  • Gavin Mann

    Sabre coach, Trustee

    Level 1 sabre coach. Started fencing as a teenager and now developing the next genration

  • David Fielding

    Foil , Sabre, Epee Coach

    David has been fencing since 1993, he was a Scotland Youth Squad member between 1994 and 2000, he gained a Level 2 coaching qualification in Foil, Epee and Sabre in July 2002.
    He doesn’t currently provide individual lessons, however is regularly around at the club providing advice to fencers.

  • Gillian Fielding

    Child Welfare Officer

    Gillian started fencing around the age of 15 and has been part of the sport since then.
    She qualified as a basic coach in sabre in 2002 although doesn’t give individual lessons.

    Gillian is a qualified Child Welfare Officer for West Fife Fencing Club.
